Overview
MS A-Sarah Nile Cruise 2026 — Honest Review, Itinerary & Prices
Ahmed's honest take: The MS A-Sarah stands out in the budget 5-star category for one clear reason: the broadest on-board facility set of any ship in our budget fleet. Most budget cruise ships offer a pool, restaurant, lounge and gift shop. The A-Sarah adds a gymnasium, massage room, hair salon, clinic, and internet — facilities you typically only find on classic or luxury ships. For travellers who want the richest on-board amenity range at the budget price point, this is the ship. The 67 cabins include Presidential Suites and Junior Suites, giving couples and families an upgrade path without moving to a higher cruise category. The ship was launched in 2008 and fully renewed in December 2015 by the Extension Group — a well-established Egyptian Nile cruise operator with strong maintenance and operational standards.
Quick Facts — MS A-Sarah Nile Cruise
Is the MS A-Sarah Worth It?
Yes — if on-board facilities matter as much as price. At $699pp double the A-Sarah is the highest-priced ship in our budget fleet, but it also offers the most complete on-board experience: a large restaurant, full gym, massage, hair salon, clinic, internet, and a spacious lounge. The Presidential and Junior Suites give it a range that most budget ships cannot match. The large openable Nile windows are a genuine differentiator — being able to open your cabin window and feel the Nile air is something fixed-window ships cannot offer. For families, seniors, or any traveller who spends meaningful time on board between temple visits and values the facility range, the A-Sarah delivers value at its price point.
Who Should Book — and Who Should Consider Another Ship

- You want a Presidential Suite or Junior Suite at budget pricing

Frequently Asked Questions — MS A-Sarah Nile Cruise
What makes the MS A-Sarah different from other budget Nile cruise ships?
The MS A-Sarah has the most comprehensive on-board facility set in our budget fleet: gymnasium, massage room, hair salon, clinic, internet, laundry, gift shop, and a restaurant designed for 120 passengers. Most budget ships offer a restaurant, lounge and pool. The A-Sarah goes significantly further. It also has large openable Nile windows in all standard cabins, and Presidential and Junior Suites for those wanting more space without moving to a higher cruise category.
Does the MS A-Sarah have bathtubs or showers?
Shower boxes, not bathtubs. The A-Sarah's private bathrooms have shower boxes in all standard double and single cabins, as confirmed on the official Extension Group fact sheet. If a bathtub is important to you, the MS Alyssa (from $559pp, Monday/Friday departure) has bathtubs in all 66 cabins. We always tell you this honestly rather than let you arrive surprised.
Are the Presidential Suites on the MS A-Sarah available to book?
Yes. The MS A-Sarah carries 2 Presidential Suites and 2 Junior Suites alongside the 61 standard double cabins and 2 single cabins. Suite rates are available on request and vary by season. Contact us with your dates for confirmed suite availability and pricing.
Can I add Abu Simbel to the MS A-Sarah itinerary?
Yes — and we strongly recommend it. The 4-night programme from Luxor ends in Aswan. Stay one additional night in Aswan and take the Abu Simbel day trip by early morning flight the next day. The Extension Group itinerary also includes an optional Abu Simbel excursion on the 5-day programme (Day 5). Book in advance through Best Nile Cruises.
Is the MS A-Sarah suitable for families and senior travellers?
Yes — it is one of the best ships in our budget fleet for both groups. The large restaurant (120 pax) means no crowding at mealtimes. The clinic on board provides reassurance for senior travellers or those with health considerations. The gym and massage room are welcome extras for longer stays. The 67-cabin capacity and multiple deck levels give families space to spread out. Children's rates apply — see the booking and pricing section for the full children's policy.
